Suede Jackets became popular in hippie fashion during the 1960s and 1970s, especially when the world saw Dennis Hopper's character in Easy Rider wearing what would eventually become an iconic fringed suede jacket. Suede Jackets aren't always identified with or linked to a particular design or style of jacket. Suede leather is a type of leather with a suede finish that is commonly used to make shoes, bags, furniture upholstery, and jackets. Suede Blazers, Suede Bomber Jacket, Suede Aviator Jacket, and so on are examples of these jackets.   Suede is one of those materials that never go out of style, yet it was featured prominently in practically every collection this season. Models wore Seventies-inspired coats that were partially unzipped to show muted orange and tobacco roll-necks beneath for Tom Ford's autumn/winter 2021 presentation. Paul Smith's aviators, which were dyed in inky blue hues and adorned with soft sheepskin, were likewise focused on color.   So, you get the idea, it's adaptable. To drive that home, we'll throw in a couple of instances of very different men, each rocking the suede jacket in their unique style. During the Rolling Stones' peak in the 1960s, Keith Richards favored a plum trucker, which he always wore with black pants. The driver-inspired throat latch and tidy button fastenings on Steve McQueen's tan racer-style suede jacket in Le Mans (1971) were praised. David Beckham has worn every style of suede jacket in the twenty-first century, from a slick black bomber to khaki Harrington and tan-collared variants (one of which we even spotted on Jeff Goldblum).   You probably don't have a suede jacket in your closet since you've heard about how difficult the fabric is to maintain. Yes, the material is porous, which means it will readily absorb water. On the other hand, with adequate care, it is less prone to crack over time for the same reason. So, how does that appear in practice? If yours does not come with a waterproof coating, apply one before putting it away. We recommend performing a patch test in an inconspicuous location before spraying evenly from a distance and letting it dry for 24 hours.
